Greetings,
Each week I add our updated authorities and/or new authorities to our catalog on Wednesdays. After I do so I then check our authority file for unlinked authority records. In doing so I end up with two types of authority record that are unlinked.
One type is not linked to anything else in our catalog-no bibliographic records and no see also records. These are easy to deal with...I just delete them from our catalog.
The second type is not linked to bibliographic records but are linked to see also records. They don't seem to do anything one way or the other in the OPAC. I have them in a record set as I ponder what if anything to do with them. Would it be safe to delete these? The number of these records fluctuate maybe by one or two each week, meaning sometimes one will suddenly have a bib to link to, other times I have a handful of these to the record set that are new. We have about 95000 authority records total in our catalog and of those about 2200 meet the criteria for these authority records.
Any thoughts?
